Manual entry covers meters that lack Arcadia feeds or CSV history. Add the data source at the portfolio level, then open Manual Entry from Building data sources to create meters and enter readings for one building.

Add the manual entry data source (portfolio)

Open Data Sources

In the portfolio left sidebar, click Data Sources.

Create the source

Click + Add Data Source. Select Manual Entry from the API dropdown, complete the required fields, then save.
The Manual Entry source appears in All Data Sources after creation.

Open Manual Entry from the building view

Select a building

From Portfolio Home, open a building in the building view.

Open Manual Entry

Expand Data Sources in the left sidebar. Under All Data Sources, click Manual Entry.
The Manual Entry page shows PRIVATE visibility and a Meters tab. Use it for waste streams, pilot meters, or any commodity you enter by hand.

The Meters tab lists every manual meter linked to the building.

The table shows each meter’s level, service type, unit, and status. For column definitions, see Meter table columns.

Create a manual meter

Click + Create Meter to open the Create Meter panel.

Open Create Meter

Click + Create Meter on the Meters tab.

Enter core details

Provide Meter Number, Meter Name, Service Type, and Currency.

Set lifecycle and scope

Set Date Became Active and Date Became Inactive when needed. Choose Scope.

Submit

Click Submit. The meter appears in the table and on Building meters.

Assign meters to the building

Click Assign Meters to link manual meters that already exist in the portfolio but are not yet tied to this building.

Search the list, select checkboxes for meters to add, then click Submit. When no meters appear, create them with + Create Meter first or confirm they exist under another building’s assignment. Remove manual meters from the building without deleting historical reads from the portfolio.

Select meters in the table, then click Unlink. This workflow matches Unassign meters on the Meters page for utility-backed meters.

Add meter readings

After you create a meter, open it from Building meters to enter billing data.

Open the meter

Click the meter number in the Meters tab or open it from Building meters.

Click Add Meter Data

Click + Add Meter Data. The side panel opens with entry fields.

Enter values and submit

Provide Usage, Cost, Start Date, and End Date. Toggle Estimated when the read is not from a final bill. Upload a supporting file when available, then click Submit.

Bulk import via Excel

For large volumes of readings, download the Excel template from the meter detail view, fill rows, and import the file. Resolve validation errors before you finalize the import.
