In AssetOps, Categories and Issue Types are created at the portfolio-level and provide a consistent way to describe the type of maintenance job a work order represents. Categories define the broad groups such as HVAC, electrical, or cleaning, while issue types represent the specific issues or tasks that fall under each category. This structure helps route work to the appropriate teams. You can assign categories and issue types when

Create Category or Issue Type

To create a new category or issue type, follow the steps outlined below. You create a category first, then create issue types that belong to that category.

Open the Categories section

In AssetOps, navigate to the Categories section from the sidebar.

Click + Create Category

Within Categories, click the + Create Category button.

Set the category name

Enter the Category Name in the modal.

Create the category

After entering the category name, click Create.

Manage Categories & Issue Types

The Categories section lists all categories and issue types under dedicated tabs for separate management. To manage a categories and issue types, follow the steps outlined below:

Open the Categories tab

Navigate to the Categories section from the sidebar and select the Categories tab.

Open the row menu

On the row of the category you want to change, click the icon.

Choose an action

Select Edit to change the category name, or Delete to remove the category.
