# Navigate the KODE OS mobile app

> Move between your organization, portfolio map, building site, and apps in the KODE OS mobile app.

The mobile app has four levels of context: **workspace**, **organization**, **site**, and **module**. Most field work stays inside one site (building) at a time.

A **workspace** is your company login domain. An **organization** is the account that owns your sites and apps. A **site** is one building. A **module** is an app such as Events, Devices, or Schedules.

## Organization context

After [sign-in](/products/mobile-app/get-started/sign-in-and-workspace), you work in one organization at a time. That organization controls which sites, apps, and data you see.

| Goal                | Where to go                                                                                                                                  |
| ------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Switch organization | Profile → `Switch Organization`. See [Customize your experience](/products/mobile-app/get-started/customize-experience#switch-organization). |
| Return to sign-in   | Profile → `Log out`                                                                                                                          |

Changing organization reloads the portfolio, site list, and every module. Bookmarks stay on the device but show data for the active organization only.

<Note>
  If you only see one organization, your administrator has not granted access to others.
</Note>

## Portfolio vs building apps

KODE OS separates **portfolio** tools (all sites) from **building** apps (one site).

| Level | How you open it | What it covers |
| ------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Portfolio** | Swipe up the bottom sheet on the map; pick `Sites`, `Dashboards`, `Building BI`, `FDD`, `FTT`, `Work Orders`, `Bookmarks`, or `Search` | All sites you can access, or cross-site views          |
| **Building** | Select a site, then open a module from the [site module launcher](#site-module-launcher) | One building (devices, events, schedules, and similar) |

Use portfolio tools when you compare sites. Use the building launcher when you operate equipment or triage events for one building.

Details for the map, sort, and search are in [Portfolio and sites](/products/mobile-app/portfolio/portfolio-and-sites).

## Site context

When you enter a building module, the bottom bar shows the **active site** and `Switch Site`.

| Action               | What happens                                                               |
| -------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `Switch Site` | Opens site selection; choosing another site reloads data for that building |
| Stay on current site | All module screens share the same site until you switch |
| Return to map        | Swipe up `Portfolio` / `All Sites Overview` without signing out            |

Site context does not change your organization. It only changes which building’s points, events, and assets load.

## Site module launcher

After you [enter a site](/products/mobile-app/portfolio/portfolio-and-sites#enter-a-site), swipe up the bottom sheet to open the **app launcher**. The header shows the site name, address, and `Switch Site`.

  </Frame>
</div>

A checkmark shows the active module. Tap a row or icon to switch apps.

    Your site may also publish `Work Orders`, `Manual Meters`, `Bookmarks`, or `Writable Points` when your role and product enablement allow.

<Info>
  If a module is missing from the launcher, your role or site may not include it. AssetOps apps such as `Work Orders` require AssetOps to be enabled for the building. Confirm assignments with your administrator or in [Launchpad](/products/launchpad/channel-partners/product-enablement) on the web.
</Info>

## Inside a module

Most building apps share the same screen patterns.

| Control          | Typical use                                                       |
| ---------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `Back` (chevron) | Return to the previous list or parent screen |
| Title | Current asset, event, work order, or view name |
| Chat / comments | Collaboration on work orders, faults, or events when shown |
| `More` (`⋯`)     | Status history, edit, share, watchers, or module-specific actions |

Detail screens often use horizontal tabs (for example, `Details`, `Attachments`, `Follow-ups`). Lists drill down to a record, then to sub-panels. Deep links from notifications open the target module when your role allows.

Many module home screens show a blue **bell** for notifications. List screens may show a `+` button for create actions when your permissions allow.

## Portfolio sheet and notifications

Swipe up the bottom handle labeled `Portfolio` or `All Sites Overview` from any building screen to return to the map or sites list. You keep your sign-in session and organization.

From the sheet you can open another site, switch to portfolio modules, or [reorder modules](/products/mobile-app/portfolio/portfolio-and-sites#reorder-modules).

Tap the blue **bell** on module home screens and the portfolio map to open `Notifications`. Alerts follow the same policies as KODE OS web for your role. Enable notifications in iOS or Android system settings if you declined the prompt earlier.

## Native screens and web views

| UI type            | Examples                                                                            |
| ------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Native** | Portfolio map, device lists, trends, most module lists and detail tabs |
| **In-app browser** | Sign-in, organization switcher, some profile links (Knowledge Base, Privacy Policy) |

Web views load `accounts.kodelabs.com` or your identity provider during sign-in and organization switch. Use `Done` or back to return to native navigation.
