# KODE OS data source

> Connect KODE OS interval meters to EnerG for interval trends, M&V, and forecasting at the building level

The **KODE OS** data source connects EnerG to <Tooltip tip="Interval meters record usage every hour or every 15 minutes for load shapes, forecasting, and M&V.">interval meters</Tooltip> you already map in KODE OS. Add the integration at the [portfolio level](/products/energ/analytics/portfolio-data-sources), then open **Kode OS** from [Building data sources](/products/energ/buildings/data-sources) to assign meters to each site.

EnerG pulls electric, natural gas, steam, water, and thermal interval points you template in KODE OS. Use this source for [Interval Trends](/products/energ/analytics/building-dashboards-energy#interval-trends), [M\&V models](/products/energ/energy-modeling/mv-models), and [Forecasting](/products/energ/energy-modeling/forecasting).

Raw interval readings are irregular. EnerG normalizes them into 15-minute and daily virtual points with quality labels before analytics use them. See [Interval data normalization](/products/energ/concepts/interval-data-normalization).

<Note>
  Initial sync can take noticeable time while EnerG processes interval payloads after you connect.
</Note>

## Connect the source (portfolio)

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Data Sources">
    In the portfolio left sidebar, click **Data Sources**.

    </Frame>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add KODE OS">
    Click **+ Add Data Source**. Select **KODE\_OS** in the **API** dropdown, then confirm.

    </Frame>
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Check>
  The **Kode OS** source appears in **All Data Sources** after creation.
</Check>

## Open KODE OS from the building view

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select a building">
    From [Portfolio Home](/products/energ/analytics/benchmarking), open a building in the building view.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open Kode OS">
    Expand **Data Sources** in the left sidebar. Under **All Data Sources**, click **Kode OS**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The **Kode OS** page shows **PRIVATE** visibility and a **Meters** tab. Interval meters synced from KODE OS appear here before they roll up to building dashboards.

## Meters tab

The **Meters** tab lists interval meters assigned to the building.

  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/kodelabs/0XJAojMwxBOWwfw5/images/energ/energ-building-kode-os-meters.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=0XJAojMwxBOWwfw5&q=85&s=4d91f2e5a00cd43b2d3dcf4fcba86d81" alt="Kode OS data source Meters tab with Search Meters Assign Meters button and table showing VFD_MBH Chiller_kWh SB_51A electric SITE_METER meters and Water_Meter_1 Basin_Cleaning_Flow_Meter water meters with Active status" width="1024" height="494" data-path="images/energ/energ-building-kode-os-meters.png" />
</Frame>

The table shows each meter's level, service type, unit, and status. For column definitions, see [Meter table columns](/products/energ/reference/data-and-meter-fields#meter-columns).

| Control           | Purpose                                                   |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Search Meters** | Filter by meter number or name |
| **Assign Meters** | Link additional KODE OS meters from the portfolio library |

Meters with **both** utility billing and interval feeds also appear on [Building meters](/products/energ/buildings/meters) with an interval badge.

## Assign meters to the building

Click **Assign Meters** to link KODE OS meters that exist in the portfolio but are not yet tied to this building.

<Frame caption="Add existing Meters dialog for KODE OS">
  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/kodelabs/0XJAojMwxBOWwfw5/images/energ/energ-building-kode-os-assign-meters.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=0XJAojMwxBOWwfw5&q=85&s=0f2c19449a8f146d191a24d57057301c" alt="Add existing Meters modal with Search Meters and empty table pagination 0 of 0 with Cancel and Submit" width="900" height="521" data-path="images/energ/energ-building-kode-os-assign-meters.png" />
</Frame>

Search the list, select meters, then click **Submit**. If the table is empty, confirm meters are modeled in KODE OS and synced to EnerG at the portfolio level first.

## Unlink meters from the building

Remove interval meters from the building assignment without deleting the underlying KODE OS point.

  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/kodelabs/0XJAojMwxBOWwfw5/images/energ/energ-building-kode-os-unlink-meters.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=0XJAojMwxBOWwfw5&q=85&s=fcba75c0d3990db5893f67e2b790eae0" alt="Unlink Meters from Building modal with meter table showing meter numbers names providers addresses service types Natural Gas and Electric checkboxes and pagination 1-10 of 12816" width="681" height="584" data-path="images/energ/energ-building-kode-os-unlink-meters.png" />
</Frame>

Select meters, then click **Unlink**. Historical interval data may remain in the portfolio; the building no longer includes those meters in rollups. See [Unassign meters](/products/energ/buildings/meters#unassign-meters-from-the-building) for utility-backed meters.

## Use interval data in EnerG

After meters are **Active**, interval reads power:

  Pair KODE OS interval meters with [Arcadia](/products/energ/data-sources/arcadia) utility meters on the same building when you run [Meter comparisons](/products/energ/data-quality/meter-comparisons).
</Info>

## Supported meter families

EnerG imports electric, natural gas, steam, water, and thermal interval points from KODE OS. Electric points often cover switchgear, VFDs, chillers, and subpanels, while gas, steam, and water points cover plant and process loads. For how service types group into portfolio totals, see [Service types](/products/energ/reference/data-and-meter-fields#service-types).
