# Portfolio emissions benchmarking

> Compare emissions performance by building across your portfolio in EnerG

Compare emissions performance across buildings in the [portfolio view](/products/energ/get-started/navigation#portfolio-view). Expand `Emissions` in the left sidebar and select `Benchmarking` to rank sites by total emissions. For scopes and accounting methods, see [Emissions accounting](/products/energ/concepts/emissions-accounting).

## Navigate to Benchmarking

Click `Emissions` > `Benchmarking` in the portfolio left sidebar.

### Filter the view

Use the filter row to scope the chart and tables.

| Filter              | Purpose                                                      |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Region**          | Limit results to a region                                    |
| **Sub-region**      | Narrow further after you select a region                     |
| **Select Building** | Focus on one or more buildings |
| **Year** | Calendar year for emissions comparison (for example, `2026`) |

## Emissions by Building chart

The **Emissions by Building** chart ranks sites by total emissions. Stacked bars show <Tooltip tip="Direct greenhouse gas emissions from sources you own or control, such as on-site combustion, fleet fuel, and refrigerant loss.">Scope 1</Tooltip> and <Tooltip tip="Indirect greenhouse gas emissions from purchased energy such as electricity and district steam.">Scope 2</Tooltip> contributions.

</Frame>

| Control                           | Purpose                                                      |
| --------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Location Based / Market Based** | Switch the accounting method for Scope 2 |
| **Previous / Next** | Page through buildings when the portfolio exceeds one page |
| **Items per page** | Number of buildings shown per chart page (for example, `20`) |

Buildings sort from highest to lowest total emissions on the active page.

## Building Emissions table

Below the chart, the **Emissions** table lists each building with scope and service-type columns. Click a **Building** name to open that site. Scroll horizontally to view all column groups. Column headers support sorting.

</Frame>

For the Scope 1, Scope 2, Additional Services, REC, and Totals column groups in this table, see [scope breakdown columns](/products/energ/reference/emissions-reference#scope-columns).

## Building Consumptions table

The **Consumptions** table shows activity data that supports emissions calculations for each building. Its structure matches the emissions table with consumption units (kWh, L) instead of kg CO₂e.

</Frame>

Scroll horizontally in EnerG to review District Steam, Electric, onsite solar, water, and REC columns for each building.

<Tip>
  Compare the **Emissions** and **Consumptions** tables for the same filter set when you explain why a building ranks high on the chart.
